My year just gets better and better… On Sunday 31st May 2009 I was lucky enough to receive my first South Yorkshire Cricket League representative cap.
I was selected as part of a Division One side to play in the Leeds Area Knockout. We play the Huddersfield Central League and beat them convincingly.
Here is the match report:
- South Yorkshire League 269 for 5 Huddersfield Central League 75(Leeds Area Knockout)
The South Yorkshire League had an emphatic victory over the Huddersfield Central League, before a goodly number of spectators, at Northfield Road on Sunday. The South Yorkshire League team comprised leading players from Division 1. South Yorkshire batted first and amassed 269 for 5 in their 40 overs. Leading the way was Norton Oakes Alex Hughes with a magnificent 118, dismissed off the final ball. The innings included 17 fours and a six. Scott Jones from Aston Hall smashed 70 and Wickersley’s Darren Pugh hit a quick fire 45.
In response Huddersfield were mesmerised by Norton’s Aamir Ashfaque who took 4 for 6 in his 8 overs. Sean Trower claimed 3 for 25 as Huddersfield were all out for 75.
